Community Leadership Mentoring Program
Project Description
- Community Leadership Mentoring Program offers medical students an opportunity to develop community leadership skills and increase their understanding of non-profit board operations.
- Program requirements include participating in training sessions, visiting three United Way of Indianapolis agencies, and observing several board meetings at the student's agency of choice. MS-III and MS-IV students also have the option of arranging additional in-depth board experiences with the agency.
- Any student willing to commit to full participation throughout medical school may apply.
- Most students begin in the MS-I year, but students may choose to begin in the MS-II year.
- Training sessions and site visits will be done on weekdays outside of scheduled class time or on the weekends.
- Students will make site visits to three non-profit agencies, which are often affiliated with the United Way of Indianapolis.
- Students will attend the board development training sessions off-campus.
